Cat Facial Recognition and Catalog App
Whisker Tracker is a mobile app that uses cat facial recognition to identify and catalog cats. It’s purrfect for people who take pictures of outdoor cats! You can track your walks, take pictures of cats, make cat profiles, and see your cats and cat colonies on a map.
As interim designer, I was tasked to add new features to the app including cat gender, connect cat manually and also create a notification page for when someone commented or connected to user's cats.
To update the design according to the latest requirements, and more importantly, to figure out the logic and design on how to connect cat entity manually to other entities or sub-entities — and vice versa for sub-entities.
Served as an interim designer, handling client requests for Phase 2.5 and updating the design accordingly.
Redesigned the app logic to allow users to manually connect cats even after creation, whereas previously connections were only possible during the create-cat flow.”
1. User-Centered Improvements – Enhanced usability by adding features like gender icons, microchip ID (private view only), and counters for cats and comments, giving users more visibility and control.
2. Flexible App Logic – Redesigned the flow to allow cats to be connected manually even after creation, solving major limitations in the original design.
3. Organized Profile Structure – Proposed grouping profile items into categories to handle the growing number of settings, improving clarity and navigation.
4. Personalization & Engagement – Introduced notifications for comments and linked cats, helping users stay connected and engaged with their cat community.
5. Trust & Safety Focus – Ensured sensitive information (like microchip IDs) remains private to protect user and pet safety.
